The Mother of Mercy Foundation in Albany, MN is bringing in Martin Zellar to do a Neil Diamond Tribute show. The show will be on Saturday, March 21st at 7:00pm.
The show will be at the B.E.A.T. Theatre in Albany. The MOM Foundation is a non-profit organization that benefits Mother of Mercy Senior Living in Albany, MN. The foundation does events throughout the year to raise money to fulfill Mother of Mercy financial responsibilities; which include, their funding drives, activities, and special events for our 200+ residents and tenants. Mother of Mercy Foundation also supports continuing education for the staff, required equipment and necessary facility improvements and maintenance.
“It is up to us to basically support all of the extra equipment, staff support, and miscellaneous items for Mother of Mercy,” said Executive Director of the MOM Foundation, Renee Anderson. “One year we bought an extended golf cart so we could drive the residents around town or take them to the Dairy Queen for a treat, or just get the residents out for a ride on a nice day.” Anderson said they have purchased many things for the residents with the help of sponsors and donors who support our foundation events.
Last year, the Foundation purchased VR Goggles, so our residents can put them on and be in virtual reality of other places. “This year we hope to purchase a high-tech wound care machine that can detect infection in a wound that the eye cannot see”, said certified wound care specialist, Sara Douvier.
“One of our biggest fundraising events is Rock the Prairie, which is an outdoor concert held in September. This past year we had a rain out for the first time, so our profits were reduced significantly.
It is our hope with us offering ‘The Martin Zellar benefit concert’ will be one way for us to make up some lost revenues from last fall’s ‘Rock the Prairie’ event”, said Renee Anderson. Martin Zellar is being flown in from his home in Mexico to do the show. Zellar was the lead singer in The Gear Daddies, which is a favorite Minnesota band that went national in the 90’s. “We are really looking forward to having Martin come and do his Neil Diamond tribute show in Albany to benefit Mother of Mercy. He is a tremendously gifted singer and musician!”
